San Juan River

San Juan, New Mexico The flows are at 796 cfs.  The fishing has been pretty good lately. With the recent rains there could be a good ant fall, if so the dry fly fishing will be good with ant patterns. Leaches, SJ worms and egg patterns. Hatches of Midges and Baetis have been good. Streamer fishing in the early morning has also been good.

Nymphing as always,. The wade fishing is picking up and should get even better as the fish get back in the swing of the normal flows.

Flies: Annelids, San Juan Worms, Egg Patterns. Midges, RS-2, 

Dry’s: Griffiths Gnat, Black Ants. Big Terrestrials

You can always Euro Nymph on the river with. Duracell’s in Natural, Duracell Bomb HE. 

San Juan - In Town

The flow is at 289 csf.

With all the rain and the big blow out the San Juan is now on it's way down and clearing. the fishing should continue to be good,

The fishing has been pretty good in town and on the East and West forks. Please check the water temps during the day!

West Fork and the East fork.

Nymphs:  Prince Nymphs standard and Jigged, blue and jigged, Flashback PT’S, Brillion’s Mean Machine , Rainbow Warriors  Iron Lotus, Jig Frenchie’s, Quill Bodied Jig Hares Ear, Bishop’s Dynamite in green, Jig Perdigon in orange and purple, Brillon’s Lucent H.E. Jig, Sexy Walts, Duracell, Tasmanian Devils. You just might want to thrown some streamers. Poachers in Black, all colors of Balanced Leaches.

Dry’s: Small Midge dries. Chubby’s

Williams Creek

The fishing has been pretty good below the lake and in and around Bridge CC. The clarity below Williams CC is a little off.   The water temps are on the rise so check the temps and if it’s starting to get in that 60 degree range and above please stop fishing.

Nymphs:  Jigged Princes, Frenchies, Quillidigon in Natural, Surveyors, 20 Bombs and 20 inchers,  Iron Lotus, Brillon’s Lucent H.E. Jig on the swing all colors, Pats Rubber Legs, Stone bombs and 20 Bombs, Lighting bug in Purple. Duracell in brown and Pt, Space X.

Dry Flies: Naked Chubby’s in Orange and Purple, Caddis patterns

Williams Creek - Above Lake

The flows are up and the clarity is off with the rains. The fishing here is starting to pick-up. and the water is clear. The Salmon have started to make their way up the river. look for other fish to follow.

Nymphs: Jig and Standard princes, Hares Ears, Rainbow Warriors, Stone Bombs, Brillon’s Lucent H.E. Jig on the swing all colors on the swing, Pats Rubber legs.

Dry’s: Naked Chubby’s in Orange and Purple.

Williams Creek Resivoir

William Reservoir is on fire and the fish are eating. The water is off color though PLPOA lakes are starting to fish well. Echo lake no reports. Capote lake and open to the public 

Flies: Semi Seal Leaches all colors. Wooly Buggers, Poaches, Balanced Leech all colors. When the wind picks up Frenchies, Princes, Hares ears floated under an indicator. 

Dry’s: Para Hares Ears, Antonio’s Superman

Piedra River

The Piedra River From the Bridge on USFS 631 to 1.5 miles above the US Hwy 160 is Fly and Lure only and Catch and Release! The Piedra in Mineral and Hinsdale County is Fly and Lure only. all 
Cutthroat Trout must be released immediately!

The Flow at 202 CFS. Flows have come up and the clarity is off with the recent rains. Please continue to check the water temps!! Even though the the rains have helped with the temps. The fishing is picking up if your willing to hike at least 45 minutes down off the Piedra river trail. Flows are getting low.

Nymphs: Jigged and Standard Pt’s, Hares Ears, Princes Standard and blue and Jigged, Pats Rubber Legs, Quillidigon in Natural and Pink, Quill bodied H.E. Brillon’s Lucent H.E. Smethurts Stone and 20 bombs.

Dry Flies : Naked Chubby’s Purple, Orange and Royal, Para Hares ear.

Animas River Durango

Flow: 448 cfs.

Big jump in the flows.

Big flashy flies and an occasional streamer, Caddis larva, mayfly nymphs, and even stonefly nymph rigs are a must.  Streamer fishing this time of year just might be the way to go if your looking for some bigger fish  Watch for hatches of baetis midday too for dry fly action.

Dry’s:  Caddis hatches around midday. 

Best Flies:  Stone fly patterns, Pat’s Rubber Legs, Pheasant tails, Pt Spectra 94, Caddis and many of our Competition Flies,

Dry’s Have some small chubby’s. Caddis, Para hare’s.

Rio Chama

Flow above town 76cfs, Below El Vado 505 CFS

The river is fishing well in town and above. Below El Vado is not great.

Best flies Nymphs: Stonefly Nymphs, Prince Nymphs, Blow torches.

Best Flies Dry:  Caddis and Hoppers.

Pass & Park Creeks - South Fork of the Rio

South Fork of the Rio is fishing well. As is Pass and Park creek.

Dry’s: Small Naked Chubby’s, Caddis

Nymph’s: Small PT’s and Hares ears, Quillidigon in Natural and Pink Mini Leeches in Black.

Flow is at 79 cfs at South fork.

Dry Flies: Stimi, Chubby’s

Nymph’s: Princes, Rainbow warriors, Stonebombs, Brillon’s Lucent H.E. Jig on the swing all colors.

Rio Grande Colorado

The flows at Wagon Wheel Gap 234 CFS. 30 Mile CC 70 CFS flow should begin to rise with the rain.

The fishing has picked up some with the rain.

Nymphs: Stone flies, Princes, Hair Ears, Semi Seal Leaches, Streamers, Pat’s rubber legs Go big with your flies, HDA Favorites

Dry’s: .  Naked Chubby’s Orange, Para Hare’s Missing Link.

Conejos River

The Flows at Magote (lower river) 117 CFS and below Platoro (Upper River) 35 CFS.

The fall fishing is upon the Conjeos. We have had reports that the river is slowing down?

Upper River:  Stone flies, Mayflies, Caddis.

Lower River:  Jig Head Princes, Hares Ears, Semi Seal Leaches Brillon’s Lucent H.E. on the swing all colors.

Drys: Stimis, Naked Chubby’s in royal and orange. Caddis in Brown and black
